Ali Akbar Velayati who also serves as the Secretary-General of the Global Assembly of Islamic Awakening left Tehran late on Wednesday for Iraqi capital city of Baghdad to attend the 9th meeting of the Islamic Awakening Supreme Council.
The Iranian veteran diplomat was invited by the Head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq Ammar Hakim, who hosts this edition of the meetings.
Prominent figures of the Islamic world are expected to convene at the event which Hakim negotiated with Velayati on July 11 to be held in Baghdad.
